Curious about the Fall Winter 2015-16 menswear trends? Well, actually there is nothing to be curious about. The trend is that there are any new trends. A lot is the same as previous Winter seasons – with some nuances, of course! Here are the 5 biggest ones:

50 shades of grey

Black may be the all time favourite color during Winter, grey is slowly taking the leading role. Try the head-to-toe grey look and dare to combine different shades.

CAMEL

Probably one of the most chic colors there are. Camel continues to be the trendiest of them all. All things camel, from coats to suits.

Coats!

Coats are a key piece in every men’s Winter garderobe. But next Fall Winter season coats will never be so important. Only 1 rule you have to keep in mind: go oversized, taillé est passé!

Different every season and always with an avant-garde touch. Yes, you gotta love Belgian fashion! Dries Van Noten just being Dries Van Noten, Haider Ackermann’s perfection, the ever mysterious Martin Margiela, Kris Van Assche’s own + Dior Homme madness… Belgium was once again taking over Paris Fashion Week. Excuse me, but we’re not ‘les petits Belges’ anymore!

What do you get when you mix a modern-day anarchist with a preppy student? Yes, the Diesel Black Gold Fall Winter 2015-16 menswear collection. Designer Andreas Melbostad reinvented the brand’s signature denim – washed, coated, distressed, patched, slim fitted and tie-dyed – and combined it with preppy blazers, sweaters and coats, all covered with pins, chains, patches and zippers to give the collection a more rebellious feel, making a loud statement. The color pallette was rather sober with black, blue, charcoal and red/burgundy playing the leading role. Melbostad played it save, but in a good way, holding on to Diesel Black Gold’s success story.

Andrea Pompilio’s debut at Canali was talk of the town during Milan Fashion Week last season. I’m a big fan of his creations since I discovered him and was very curious what his plans were for Canali’s Fall Winter 2015-16 collection. Pompilio delivered an eclectic wardrobe inspired by Milanese modernism: the Fifties. A time when the city was a source of ideas and innovation. He took the pureness, the graphic appeal, the architectural textures and even the nonchalance of the era to create pieces that are easy to wear. Colors are clean and sober, with white, grey and black setting the tone, brightened up with some yellow. A young and fresh Canali collection, the rebirth of Canali is a fact. Auguri, Andrea!

Calvin Klein Collection is a constant highlight during Milan Fashion Week and I couldn’t be any happier I was once again invited to see Italo Zucchelli’s latest creations. 50 shades of grey, that’s how I describe the Fall Winter 2015 men’s collection. Granite, anthracite, Gotham, basalt, charcoal, heather… Italo was definitely in a grey mood. Athletic, sporty silhouettes take cues from trendier streetwear looks. His collections have often infused masculine Forties silhouette with a futuristic bent. Add some plastic and some leopard and you get a vibrant collection. There was also something retro about a passage of cropped flight jackets and high-waist trousers that suggested an air squadron of dark androids. A straight to the point collection, no nonsense, which I like!
