Last Sunday at the Marni presentation in Milan. Consuelo Castiglioni’s latest menswear collection is all about structural and elegant designs, perfect for the modern, contemporary (and probably artistic) man. The collection features prints that pop (poppies everywhere!), blocky topcoats, structural cropped jackets and a slew of rich colors. Castiglioni had French model Vincent LaCrocq photographed for her new lookbook, symbolising the new Marni man.

And the 5 biggest Spring Summer 2014 trends are:

Black & white

Black is the new black. White is the new white. After several color explosions last couple of Summer seasons, it’s time to tone down a little. Go head-to-toe for a maximum effect!

Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2014

Gianfranco Ferré Spring Summer 2014

Feminine applications and embroideries on literally everything, from dresses and tops to accessories.

Giambattista Valli Spring Summer 2014

Marni Spring Summer 2014

Palazzo pants

Bye, bye, skinny jeans! Hello, palazzo pants! Flowing fabrics and loose silhouettes are fresh and refreshing.

DAKS London Spring Summer 2014

Hermès Spring Summer 2014

Midriff chic

Ladies, you better start working on your abs! Next Summer season is all about showing of your midriff. Bra lets, cropped tops and all are mixed to palazzo pants, skirts or even an attempt at tailoring.

Chanel Spring Summer 2014

Salvatore Ferragamo Spring Summer 2014

Perforation

With lace and see-through fabrics being a constant last seasons and a commercial success across the globe, fashion takes it to another level. Perforated patterns are more precious and detailed.

Sunday June 23. Arriving early morning, dropping my luggage and going straight to Marni. Yes, my Milan Fashion Week officially started and what better way to kick off than with a excellent presentation? Since Marni recently took over an old factory as its new venue in Milan, it was nice to see the huge industrial space as an influence on its Spring Summer 2014 collection, the first one to be shown in Spazio Marni. Easy chic, Consuelo Castiglioni made a collection perfect for trendy men who like to give a twist to a classic look, the iconic polka dots included. I’m a big fan of the parkas! Their volume was capelike, almost romantic in an odd way. Love!

Move over Galleria Vittorio Emanuele! Milan has a new shopping destination. Designed by Jean Nouvel and owned by Gruppo Coin, Excelsior Milano is housed in a former cinema in Galleria del Corso.

The first floor features contemporary American designers such as Theory and Rag & Bone. Other floors offer labels such as Christian Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, Sergio Rossi and Pierre Hardy. Also look out for items by Givenchy, Proenza Schouler, Marni, Chloé and Manolo Blahnik. The ground floor houses a bar (open till 2am.), cosmetics, flowers, a Ladurée shop, the sophisticated L’Olfattorio bar à parfums and Tiffany & Co..

Excelsior Milano is a new shopping experience. And thanks to the numerous empty spaces you actually have the feeling you’re walking in a private art gallery. Definitely worth a visit!
