Curious about the Fall Winter 2015-16 menswear trends? Well, actually there is nothing to be curious about. The trend is that there are any new trends. A lot is the same as previous Winter seasons – with some nuances, of course! Here are the 5 biggest ones:

50 shades of grey

Black may be the all time favourite color during Winter, grey is slowly taking the leading role. Try the head-to-toe grey look and dare to combine different shades.

CAMEL

Probably one of the most chic colors there are. Camel continues to be the trendiest of them all. All things camel, from coats to suits.

Coats!

Coats are a key piece in every men’s Winter garderobe. But next Fall Winter season coats will never be so important. Only 1 rule you have to keep in mind: go oversized, taillé est passé!

Furs

Bold, patterned, oversized… fur – even faux! – was never so extravagant! Fur is all you need to spice up your Winter outfits.

Statement sweaters

Gone are the boring sweater days. Nowadays, sweaters are comfy and fun, ánd they are making a statement.

‘A dandy in New York City,’ is how John Varvatos describes his Fall Winter 2015 men’s collection, inspired by Bob Dylan in the Sixties and created for the guy who wants to dress up, mixing Rock ‘n Roll chic garments with dandy elements. The silhouettes are sleek and strong, yet comfortable with unexpected accents: trousers are cut shorter – still a trend! – to show boot details and paired with single-breasted jackets to complete the solid look. Jacquard fabrics express the dandy attitude, giving the collection a British touch. John Varvatos goes back to his black, but added refined colors as aubergine, grey and camel to what I call his best collection so far.

After attending several shows in Milan during men’s Fashion Week and following London Collections and Paris Fashion Week on NowFashion.com and Style.com, I’m looking forward to Spring Summer 2015. And this are the 5 biggest trends:

WHITE

White is by far the biggest color statement next Summer season. From suits and parkas to slouchy trousers… all look better in white, or so it seems.

Neutrality

Au revoir, bright colors! The Spring Summer 2015 collections have a more neutral color palette, featuring mints, blushes, beiges, greiges and khakis.

Dries Van Noten Spring Summer 2015

Maison Martin Margiela Spring Summer 2015

Patterned

Patterns are totally back: polka dots, vertical stripes, zig zags… . Wear them head-to-toe, like in a suit, or don’t be afraid to mix them either.

Gucci Spring Summer 2015

Kenzo Spring Summer 2015

3D

This is not a major trend, but mark my words… it will be in the future. New forms of embellishment and old live together with cut outs, passementerie, embossing and quilting.

Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2015

Ermenegildo Zegna Spring Summer 2015

Bombing

Nothing new here. The bomber jacket has been back for a couple of seasons now. But next Spring Summer, this trend will be in full force.

An outfit is not perfect without a nice pair of shoes. From boots to brogues, from loafers to knit kicks… I saw a lot of eye-catching footwear on the Fall Winter 2012-13 runways in Paris and Milan. Here, my 10 favourite pairs, those I like the most and I definitely want next Winter season:

‘What on earth is a mankle?’ I hear you ask. Well, to put it simply, when a man goes out in shoes – sans socks – he reveals his ankles. I already show them off for years now, but according to the trends of Summer 2011, mankles are tout le rage. With trousers becoming increasingly shorter and the regular pair of jeans or chinos now being rolled up, hell is breaking loose with the naked mankle infiltrating our streets en masse. Well, in fact, not in Belgium, where men don’t like this look.

I know it’s not comfortable not wearing socks in your shoes, but you can always cheat with a pair of shoe liners (no, not ankle socks!), only covering your heel and toes.
