Curious about the Fall Winter 2015-16 menswear trends? Well, actually there is nothing to be curious about. The trend is that there are any new trends. A lot is the same as previous Winter seasons – with some nuances, of course! Here are the 5 biggest ones:

50 shades of grey

Black may be the all time favourite color during Winter, grey is slowly taking the leading role. Try the head-to-toe grey look and dare to combine different shades.

CAMEL

Probably one of the most chic colors there are. Camel continues to be the trendiest of them all. All things camel, from coats to suits.

Coats!

Coats are a key piece in every men’s Winter garderobe. But next Fall Winter season coats will never be so important. Only 1 rule you have to keep in mind: go oversized, taillé est passé!

Furs

Bold, patterned, oversized… fur – even faux! – was never so extravagant! Fur is all you need to spice up your Winter outfits.

Andrea Pompilio’s debut at Canali was talk of the town during Milan Fashion Week last season. I’m a big fan of his creations since I discovered him and was very curious what his plans were for Canali’s Fall Winter 2015-16 collection. Pompilio delivered an eclectic wardrobe inspired by Milanese modernism: the Fifties. A time when the city was a source of ideas and innovation. He took the pureness, the graphic appeal, the architectural textures and even the nonchalance of the era to create pieces that are easy to wear. Colors are clean and sober, with white, grey and black setting the tone, brightened up with some yellow. A young and fresh Canali collection, the rebirth of Canali is a fact. Auguri, Andrea!

I’ve never missed a Canali show in the past 3 years, so I was very pleased I could see the Fall Winter 2014-15 live in Milan last week. Canali took us on a trip to Venice, after recent outings to Paris and St. Petersburg. Venetian traditions infuse the collection with delicate colors, like canal greens and blues. Venetian velvet was omni-présent, as a material for water-colored jackets and trousers, and wallpaper motifs borrowed from the walls of palazzi were used into the suits. A typical Canali collection, elegant and wearable, where tradition meets innovation. Mi piace!

Already curious about the Spring Summer 2014 menswear trends? Well, after attending several shows during Milan Fashion Week and following London Collections and Paris Fashion Week on NowFashion.com and Style.com, I give you the 5 biggest trends:

Blue!

Cobalt blue, cerulean blue, electric blue… bring an oceanic calm to most menswear collections.

Hermès Spring Summer 2014

Flower power

The new dandy wears flowers. Whether he chooses delicate almond blossoms, bold Hawaiian hibiscus or micro flowers, one thing is sure: flowers are to be worn. Head-to-toe or just une petite touche.

Dries Van Noten Spring Summer 2014

Gucci Spring Summer 2014

Bomber boys

Nothing new here. Bomber jackets are omni-présent these days. But next Summer, this trend will be in full force.

Ermenegildo Zegna Spring Summer 2014

Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2014

Oversized shorts

The Spring Summer 2014 menswear silhouettes are divided in two firm camps: stream lined and boxy. Oversized shorts are the common factor of the latter silhouette, casual at its best. To refine the look, combine with a square cut t-shirt.

Christopher Raeburn Spring Summer 2014

Fendi Spring Summer 2014

Taillé

Boys, listen up! The Spring Summer 2014 suits are tight fitting and figure enhancing.

Monday June 24 4 pm., Canali time! Not my first show that day, not my last, but definitely one of the shows I don’t want to miss. Canali is always very dandy, but this time in a more ironic and young way. The Spring Summer 2014 collection is a mix between business and leisure, avec une touche de Paris. Canali never forgets fine tailoring and creates pieces ready for a modern man. But I saw some lay back outfits as well… espadrilles, polka dots, stripes and mermaid-print chinos included. Yves Klein blue, honey yellow and cherry red cheer up the overall black and grey collection. Auguri, Canali, you did it again!
