I know travelling is the last thing on your mind right now. This corona virus all keeps us at home. That inspired me to write a new mindful blog post (it’s been a while!). To inspire you when it comes to your next destination. Because even during hard(er) times, dreaming is not forbidden! So in this article I take you with me on a short mindful trip to beautiful Étretat in Normandy, France. Bon voyage!
Strolling around the old town
What better way to relax than being at the French coast, inhaling some extra vitamin sea!? That’s why my best friend (Charlies Wanderings) and I decided to go on a 2 day trip to Étretat last year in July. Kicking off with a sightseeing tour through the old city centre, trying to avoid the hordes of tourists. Which made us decide to sit on a cosy terrace the whole (after)noon, eating fresh fish and drinking French wine. Quality time it was, because overcrowded makes me anxious (also read: Paris, a mindful experience!?). Later, the coast is clear to enjoy the beach and the sound of the Atlantic waves.

Mindfulness at the famous cliffs
Étretat is best known for its chalk cliffs including 3 natural arches and a pointed formation called the Needle, which rises 70 metres above the sea. You can’t visit Étretat without going for a hike over here. But be careful! It can be quite windy and you don’t want to fall into the sea… .

It’s the perfect location to feel at peace with yourself. Mindfulness at its best, especially during sunrise and -set. So being here during those golden hours is worth everything, including an early morning wakeup call. And while these cliffs are overcrowded in the midst of the day, you are almost completely alone when the sun is throwing his golden parties.

Les Jardins d’Étretat
Looking for a magical place? Look no further, Les Jardins d’Étretat is where you have to be. A garden full of history, which started in the early 20th century. The actress known as Madame Thébault built a villa on this idyllic spot. The grounds, which she made into a garden for her orchids, became a favourite painting spot for her friend Claude Monet. In 2016, Russian landscape designer Alexander Grivko transformed the garden into an arty farty place, complete with mindful music and stunning views over Étretat and its cliffs. An ode to Claude Monet, and a must-visit, if you ask me!

I hope I’ve inspired you by going on a short mindful trip to Étretat! I can only recommend it. Do you have questions about this beautiful destination? Or do you need some more information about me being a Minfluencer? Don’t hesitate to contact me (for collaborations, etc.).
