Les petits Belges big in Paris

Ann Demeulemeester’s black and white madness, Anthony Vaccarello’s rising star, Dries Van Noten just being Dries Van Noten, Haider Ackermann’s perfection, the ever mysterious Martin Margiela, Raf Simons’ first Dior ready-to-wear collection, the upcoming Cédric Charlier and Véronique Leroy, Veronique Branquinho’s return… Belgium – a small nation, best known for waffles, chocolate and beer – took over Paris Fashion Week last month. Yes, I’m proud to be a Belgian! I’ve always been a fan of Belgian fashion. It’s different every season and has an avant-garde touch. The Antwerp Six were setting the trend in the Eighties, but now new Belgian designers got good critics and Dior is in safe Belgian hands, the future is looking brighter than ever. No, we’re not ‘les petits Belges’ anymore!
