Seated on the steps of an octagonal construction – quite an experience – placed centre stage, I enjoyed one of Milan Fashion Week’s highlights, Etro! Founded on paisley, the Kashmiri design that Scottish weavers turned into the pattern we know, Kean Etro goes back to the roots, calling his new collection Playsley. It is a return to paisley’s Kashmiri roots. Rather than the masculine hyper-tailoring that has been a traditional house signature, there were soft, flowing pieces that were much more androgynous. Tops flowing below suit blazers, relaxed pants being cuffed at the ankle, military inspired jackets cut for comfort in light weight fabrics… this collection is all about effortless elegance. Add a turban and next Summer will be an Indian one. The show ended with several head-to-toe white outfits (trend!), but before that there was a color explosion. Blue, red, purple… this was Etro at its best, colorful!
