Avant-première of Margiela’s Replica fragrances

As a fashion blogger I receive invites to several events… and yesterday – the day H&M announced their collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela – I went to Margiela’s boutique in Brussels for the launch of the Replica fragrances. Situated in the Dansaert area, the Margiela boutique is one of the funniest stores I ever saw. All white, clean, lots of mirrors… it actually feels like you’re in a psychiatric hospital, but in this one, you’ll probably want to stay forever. While drinking white wine and enjoying some delicious cupcakes, I took my time to discover this beautiful boutique.

Hurray! Time to celebrate! Margiela created a trio of female fragrances that aims to capture ‘familiar scents and moments of various locations and periods’, with Beach Walk inspired by the Corsican beach of Calvi in 1972, Funfair inducing memories of a Santa Monica carnival in 1994 and Flower Market carrying the scent of fresh cut flowers at a Parisian flower market in 2011. My favourite? Beach Walk! I simply love the combination of bergamot, lemon and pink pepper. Funfair (apple and orange blossom) and Flower Market (freesia and Grasse rose petals) are a bit too sweet for me.

The Replica fragrances are now available at selected European destinations, US consumers will have to wait until 2013 for the release.

I love the smell of fresh flowers! That’s why I always keep them at home in a flower vase. I usually buy them by dozens… .
