My favourite show in Paris so far? Definitely Dries Van Noten! It’s not that I’m very chauvinistic, but when it comes to fashion, I’m proud to be a Belgian. For his Fall Winter 2012-13 collection, Dries was inspired by the East. Despite the likes of dragon coats, kimono-like silhouettes and Asian-inspired prints (elements I saw on a lot of runways), the collection is fresh thanks to the designer’s unique digital prints.
Van Noten knows how to perfectly balance solid versus print in each of his looks so that you can not only appreciate the prints, but also the fabric, cut and tailoring. This collection is a mix of unique antiques and modern items. For me, the eyecatchers are the relaxed cuffed trousers and the sharply tailored outerwear with angled shoulders. Congrats, Dries, you did it again!
