Z Zegna is always a favourite during Milan Fashion Week. It was the debut of new Creative Director, Paul Surridge, and no, he didn’t disappoint! He has developed a modern portrait, a portrait in which many will identify themselves as it captures the brave and determined spirit of many young men. Well, if I had the budget I would wear a lot of Z Zegna clothes.
Surridge created a strong masculine silhouette with softly tailored jackets and slim pants. Some jackets have 4 buttons, but I’m more a fan of the narrow-cut double-breasted jackets inspired by the 20’s. Coats, car coats, raincoats and parkas have accents of rubber and copper. Shoes and boots have thick soles. The main colors are simple: navy blue, charcoal, ebony, khaki and of course, burgundy, which makes a huge comeback in menswear. I also saw accents in electric blue, sapphire, red-orange and emerald. Colors who brighten up dark Winter days.
Alessandro Sartori doesn’t have to worry… Z Zegna is in good hands!
